About SoCal Tides
Southern California has mixed semi-diurnal tides — two highs and two lows per day, but with noticeably unequal heights. The higher high and lower low are the ones that matter most. Tidal ranges run 4–6 feet, and the lowest tides of the year — sometimes dropping below zero MLLW — tend to fall during daylight hours in summer and winter, creating exceptional conditions for tide pooling, diving, and exploring exposed reefs.
TideSwell maps all 37 stations across the region, layered over nautical depth charts, so you can see the full picture from San Diego Bay to the Channel Islands to Santa Barbara in a single view.
